Objectives
Under the leadership of Andrea Doneda, editorial director, and Rosanna Massarenti, editor in chief, I spearheaded Altroconsumo's digital transformation initiative. My role involved leading the digital transition of the Information and Services department with the goal of setting a precedent for the entire Euroconsumers group - a coalition of European consumer organizations that includes Altroconsumo.
Our primary objectives included creating a tool to provide subscribers with easy access to Altroconsumo magazines and guides via smartphones and tablets, translating content for digital platforms and developing a mobile app to establish new quality standards for the company and enhance its online presence.

Delivering the solution
Key features
The culmination of our efforts was the InEdicola app, designed for Android and iOS devices, serving as a digital newsstand for Altroconsumo's publications. Key features included:
intuitive and user-friendly interfaces
seamless connection with online comparators
deep integration with other company services, including personalized customer support
accessibility features, especially for elderly users or those with visual impairments
access to archived magazine issues.
Additionally, I oversaw the creation of layout templates and initial issues, with subsequent designs conducted by a talented team under my supervision and guidance.

An extraordinary success for Altroconsumo
Ultimately, I led the end-to-end design process for the InEdicola app, from initial wireframes and prototypes to final execution, and directed the digital transformation of flagship magazines. Among my tasks, I provided leadership and mentorship to a team of three junior designers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
The entire project was an extraordinary success and the results exceeded by far the set objectives. The annual target set by the company (7k downloads within the first 12 months) was reached in just 2 days and in the following months the app overcame 150k app downloads with a 4.7/5 rating.

Following the success of the InEdicola app in Italy, the project was also developed by other consumer organizations in countries such as Spain, Portugal and Belgium, under the supervision of Luc Verheyen, Head of Digital Publications.
